... I guess its the key itself I'm questioning .. the old key from the 3-bladed prop doesn't fit the key-way in the 4-bladed hub .. its to thick .. so it fits the shaft, but not the new hub .. seems strange that a replacement wouldn't come with the prop .. the other thing was that the 3-bladed prop had a split plastic spacer about 4" long between the shaft and the hub, which I thought was the cutlass bearing but apparently not . .. You can buy kits which include the key. You SHOULD have a piece of bronze stock ("the key") measuring 1/4" square x 2" +/- long. What are the dimensions of your key? Are you saying your existing key is TOO WIDE to fit into the key way on the #650?
Most kits will come with 2 nuts, a key, and a cotter pin like this:
But our tugs have a prop nut anode so you won't need the above nuts except as spares.
New keys don't usually come with ACME props...like the cotter pins, the keys are somewhat disposable. By that I mean that they CAN be reused but sometimes reach an "end of life" necessitating their replacement.
