Hello everyone! I am very excited to join the family, this is my first boat so it was a no brainer for me. Small boat, bow thruster, cheap to run and maintain, trailerable, it just made too much sense to get an R-21.

I do have a question regarding something that I have not been able to find an answer to in any documentation, video, or forum post. Just where the heck is the "switch" for the bow thruster? I assume it has a master switch hiding somewhere but I can't for the life of me find it. The manual points to an area around the helm but I have not been able to locate it.

Any help? Thanks!

Bumping post delayed in moderation queue.

The breaker switch for the bow thruster is located under the bed cushion on the starboard side just fwd of the helm. Congratulations on your boat if you have any questions feel free to contact me, it's a great little fishing boat, slow but great! Bob

Haha oh man I never would have found it under there! Good to know thank you.

Fishing is the plan! Going to see how it handles in Nantucket Sound, should be a fun time.

That switch is very hard to reach and seems to serve no useful purpose. I have left it on continuously for two years now with no apparent ill effects. The bow thruster joy stick shuts off on its own after a few minutes of no use.

Hey - welcome to the 21 club! Im sure will enjoy it as much as I have! If you have any questions about the Tug be sure to post here and there is a welcome group who will hopefully have the answer. As with any new boat be sure to trial it slowly in different conditions. Having had my 21 out for over 600 hours I have come to respect its limitations on the open water and pick my days when going to open ocean or even large lakes on windy days! If you need any help be sure to reach out to us. Welcome ! Jonathan LITTLEREDTUG.com

Thanks Jonathan! I have to admit your videos are a big reason we have the tug, they absolutely sold the wife I barely had to do any convincing! Haha so thank you! Looking forward to the memories made.

I am so grateful for this question--I've spent all summer without using the bow thruster because I couldn't figure it out--even after reading the manuals. Can't wait to look for this secret switch next time I am out!

One thing I did on my 21 is put snaps in the cabin along the top of the woodwork at the windshield. This way I can close in the cabin without having to go outside. Much easier, especially at dark or in lousy weather.

Hi George A. I like this idea! How did you do this? I noticed the snaps on the outside of my R21 cabin have a screw backing that goes through the cabin wall (I can see it inside). So how are you attaching snaps—I’m wondering what you did, as I don’t want to put holes unless necessary.

Just found some snaps at hardware store that are same size. Attach in wood with small wood screws that are hidden by the snaps.
