My name is Mike,
I stumbled upon Ranger Tugs a few months ago and the idea of exploring more on the water took hold. I am an avid boater and my wife, and I have a few Airstreams that we have been lucky to travel and camp in. So we are used to tight spaces on our adventures.

I collect old boats and all of my previous boating experience has just been on inland lakes. So traveling on the Great Lakes and coastal waters will be new to me and I plan to start small.

I have been in the middle east with the Army for the past 9 months and just landed back in the USA a few days ago and will be home soon. A 2017 R23 came for sale at the Pocket Yacht Company and I decided to take the plunge last month and bought the boat without ever seeing it in person. It had the features my wife and I wanted and was within our price range and only had 150 hours.

I plan to pick up the boat I get home and I think our first trip may just be across the Chesapeake Bay to Annapolis. Plan to tow the boat home after and then splash it in Lake Chautauqua for some day cruising and then an extended trip up on Lake Ontario from Sodus Bay to Alexandria.

I appreciate any tips and advice that anyone has to offer as I learn the new boat and explore

Tons of experienced boaters in this forum. There's also an R-23 group on Facebook.

Cheers,

Bruce
