Picked up our new R29 (Gandalf- it's gray) last week from Tommy Gaston at Seagate Marine in Stuart, FL. Tommy spent 2.5 days with me going over systems, operations, and teaching me to dock. We put about 8 hours on the boat and I enjoyed every second! Slept on-board three nights and found it pretty comfortable (need to find a forward berth padded mattress cover and some covers for the overhead hatches). Got lots of attention at the dock and cruising about- people love these boats. Also, got her into some good 8-10 footers in St Lucie Inlet on Weds ( wind was up and there was a strong outgoing tide in the opposite direction) and I was extremely impressed with Gandalfs performance- even when she was taking a lot of water over the bow. I highly recommend Tommy and Seagate Marine- he provided exceptional service! See y'all out there!

Congrats, she's a beauty.
Take a look at Ocean Air SkyScreens, one side is a full shade, opposite side is a screen. There is a pic in my photo album, the previous owner installed 3 in the boat. They look great and really function well

Welcome Gandalf to the wonderful world of Ranger Tug. I concur with Brian on the Ocean Air products and can attest they are easy to install. You should try a search on the Tugnuts sight for mattress padding/bedding, it should yield you some ideas to get started.

Again, welcome aboard,

Jim

Congratulations... the new R-29s are a sight for my sore eyes... we were on Anne Cox's new R-29 in the past week and it was outfitted only as Ranger Tugs knows how to do... 'excellence' exudes everywhere. Nice job...

Covers for the overhead hatches ???? Are these for privacy (full blackout) or for reducing the sun glare and reducing heat inside the boat ? If the latter the consider some material that blocks out say 80% of the daylight/sunlight. Cut the material to shape of each hatch and place elastic straps at each corner to attach them to the screens that Ranger Tugs provides as stock items for you boat. We have these (given to us by Bruce/Vicky on Moondance when they upgrade from their R-25 to their R-29) and they work very well indeed for us.

Have fun...

Baz- the hatch in the forward berth let in way too much light while tied up in the harbor... We need full blackout covers!

Congratulations-We just ordered a new 31 from Tommy for September delivery and glad you enjoyed your training. We live in Vero Beach just to the North of Stuart and also noted you are from Asheville where we have some property too.
Come by some time...Randy

Dave, are you still planning to keep Gandalf (our favorite wizard!) in Southport North Carolina?
We are at St James and highly recommend it. We also can give you recommendations in the area of mechanics, workman, etc.

Gandalf was delivered to Southport Marina on Thursday! I am headed there Tuesday this week to get her in the water and do a couple of test runs to Bald Head. Any recommendations for local service and support are appreciated.

Randall- we are taking delivery of a 2014 R31CB from Tommy at the end of August/Early September as well- cant wait!

Dave, Welcome to the area. I will send you a private message later with local contact info.
Are you going to own 2 boats are you going to trade the 29 for the 31? Must be a nice problem to have!

Thank you for the pm- great information there! Gandalf will be for sale shortly- we are either going to sell it or trade it in when the 31 arrives.
