Hi, I am a Ranger fanatic & a bonafide tugnut [I believe]; I am looking forward to getting my 1st boat ever - which will be an R29 !!

I'm hearing whispers through the mist of an All new R29 for 2015 - IS THIS TRUE???? AND WHEN? I don't see any new line drawings / pics or any mention of this.... I'm Super Excited about the thought of it!!!

Can you please shed a light?

Thx!!

A new 29? I haven't heard anything about that yet, but with the fall boat shows coming up, you never know what Ranger Tugs has up their sleeve. They did a great job of keeping the R 31 a secret until the Seattle boat show I believe. We will have to see what the next couple of months bring! Good luck, you'll love being a part of the RT family.

We met Andrew at the Monroe factory last Friday and were able to see the pieces of the new 29 going together. Put a deposit down on one for Spring delivery. Andrew was scheduled to show it to four groups that weekend, we were the second to see it and the first to pull the trigger.

Hmmm.... Great news indeed.... I'm interested in this. I wonder when Ranger might place this updated R29 model on their home web site ????

In fact, I will take a short trip to Monroe after calling Ranger saying I'm coming. 😀

Well I guess the cat is out of the bag. We are introducing a new model but not quite ready to get into the full details. All of you signed up for the rendezvous will have the first look at the boat if I stay out of the shops way. 😎

More to come,

Andrew Custis

I wonder if this will be like the new iPhone launch... All these concept drawings on line speculating what it will look like 🙂
Is exciting news looking forward to more details.

I had heard a while back that the cockpit on the new 29 is going to be very similar to the 31

With the swing side-seating to port and starboard ?????????

Barry:

So are you thinking of making a change to the new R29? Seems you were thinking of doing something when we last saw you in Anacortes.

Jim:

My current use of our R25 is becoming more of a family affair. My son and son-in-law are taking more and more interest in boating and wanting to use our R25 themselves. This is leading me to think "bigger boat" and one that can have its operating costs shared 3-ways. 😱 😎

Both son and son-in-law live close by and son-in-law currently owns a sailboat which he wants to sell as it's too much handling for him with a family of 4. His sailboat is kept at the same Marina as our R-25.

My son is very interested in using the boat with his family of soon-to-be 5. 😱

Dividing operating costs by 3 makes a larger Ranger Tug quite feasible and we all benefit immensely IMO.

I've asked Capt. Mac if he would take my son and son-in-law out for the 2-day on the water for training them. Capt. Mac will do so but his fee is a bit steep. I only asked him as training son and son-in-law gives me the wobbly feeling like I had when I taught my three children to drive a car.... a very stressful experience. I have decided to train these two fine fellas myself and we will be considering a larger Ranger Tug. I do not see that using and operating a R25 is that much different from using and operating a R29 or R31.... and maybe others can tell me if this is so.

The only difference is the bigger the boat the more the scratches cost to fix - like the difference between a 10 year old Yugo and a new Mercedes :mrgreen:

Oh yeah, forgot to pontificate upon switching him from a sailboat (turns on a dime with nine cents change) to a Tug (skitters sideways like a floating leaf in the wind).
One dent, two scratches, and three pilings later he/they will probably catch on.
My usual method is to tie a weighted line onto a fender and anchor it somewhere quiet and have them go through the drill of coming along side the fender to a dead stop without running it down. A few hours of that and they should be good to go.

OK I'm really trying to be patient about getting information about the all new R29. I wounder what the cost will be, engine size, tankage size and if a flybridge is going to be offered. Someone HAS to know something, they're already taking orders for it. Andrew, Jeff?

To all concerned: I have a R29 for sale....56 hours on a D4...2013...still smells new...take a look at Rangers for sale in the forum section

Go to one of the many fall boat shows. I'll be at the Newport Show this weekend. I'm hoping someone buys a new R29, gently uses it, and sells it in 2 or 3 years to me!

I hope that the new Ranger 29 has been designed so that it is still practical for long distance cruising/Live aboard (i.e. The Loop). Here are some factors I hope they have kept in mind:

* Ability to cruise comfortably/economically at relatively low speeds
* Adequate storage space
* Dual sinks
* Adequate galley space
* Shower
* Shade cover and sides for the cockpit

and of course... The wine bottle holder! 🙂[/list]
