Has anyone seen the new Ranger R-29 model? I understand it's really something and would like to see some information on it.

There was a post on it and a lot of discussion. Search the forums and you will find link to pictures.

We saw the first one at the Tug Gathering In Roche Harbor. Looked great. Had a lot of the Cutwater feel in the interior. There were some features we really liked and some that we would miss from the old version. I still like the homey style of the old tug, but some of the cutwater features in the interior are incredible cool.

There are some pictures on the Ranger Tugs Facebook page, here.

It's all worth it just to be free of the maddening pillar smack in the middle of the helmsman's field of view.

Not worth it though to trade a couple inches of view for losing any access in pilot house door

We love the pilot house door so our R-29 will be the last Tug we own as long as it outlasts us. If it doesn't we will get another Ranger Tug.

Judy and I saw the new R29 at the United States Powerboat Show in Annapolis today. We also had the pleasure of meeting Jeff Mesmer who informed us it was Hull #2 and the very first new R29 on the east coast. It's an eye catcher, especially with the red hull. Overall it gives off a more contemporary look than the rest of the Ranger line. For those who were concerned about the amount of heat and/or light all that overhead glass will let in, Jeff informed me that the glass is a darker tint (85%) and there are snaps on the outside to secure the provided covers. Very nice.

One other bit of info from Jeff...the 35 is at least 18 months away.
