New Ranger tug 31CB

We have had a 31 CB for 4 years, 400 hours cruising over 4000 miles.
Just right for two.
We added a clothes rod to rear of cave entrance to hang more clothes.
We can go two weeks without doing laundry, but most marinas have washers and dryers, some free, some pay.
Highly recommend the 31for a couple. Can sleep another in cave, but we use for storage.
I love the helm door, allows docking starboard single handed.
If we were buying again no CB, do not use a lot and have to lower mast for low bridges.
Also no cockpit helm, very rare use.
Not sure about full enclosure for cockpit, need bimini, but do not use sides curtains a lot.
Carpet for interior, no carpet for cockpit.
Also replaced factory table with IKEA folding one.

i think its going to come down to how long are the trips you are planning to do. a week is very different to 3 months and what you are willing to put up with.

Perhaps have her try the experience out a little first. Get a charter on a weekend with great weather and go for an overnight or two?
 
We ordered a new 2021 31CB coming in September! Can't wait. Any suggestions about outfitting beds etc. I welcome them.

Couldn't the day head be replaced with a washer/dryer combo? Seems to me to be a logical place and perhaps a good factory option.
 
Regarding laundry, we use lightweight Turkish towels for our bath towels (Amazon) and cotton flour sack towels for dish/kitchen towels (Target). Both dry quickly on a nice day outside in the cockpit after your shower or dish washing. Lightweight hiking or athletic clothes work well onboard and you’ll find you don’t have to be too fastidious about changing pants, shorts or shirts everyday, either. Kind of like camping! I found I bring way too much clothes (and shoes!) but sometimes get the weather wrong, so when we trailer our R23 in the southeast we leave a duffle with a few non-seasonal items in our vehicle to access if the weather gets hotter or colder than we expected. I’ve been very happy with the laundry facilities at marinas, where available, and we figure on every four/five days for that depending on our situation. That being said, the washer/dryer are my favorite things to come home to!
 
Maintenance? My wife finds must less maintenance on our RT29S cruises than she experiences when both children are home for the holidays cleaning up after them + me.

Relative to owing the wooden sailboat and wooden cabin cruiser "back in the day", there is no maintenance....

Let's see: today I shoveled the drive, cleaned the hot tub filters, cleaned out the fire place, scooped the cat litter, emptied the trash. My wife made breakfast, cleaned the kitchen, swept, and started the laundry...and it is still not noon.
