We just concluded the purchase agreement on a 2021 29CB. We are stoked.

We will keep it in Port Alberni to start and then to home port in Victoria.

Congrats on the new boat. Enjoy!

Congrats on the new R29 S, looks great.

Would be interested to get details about the performance and and sea worthiness when you have had a chance to take it for a multi-day trip. We have an older R25 and will be moving to a R29/31 within the next 5-10 years (once retired).

Cheers,

Stefan

Congratulations on your new R29. We had ours for 3 years, enjoyed it immensely and I’d have to say it was the best all around boat we’ve owned. You’ll enjoy the stability, ability to cruise at trawler speeds or get up and go when you want. We found the best speeds to travel were either around 7-9 mph or 14-16 mph. Enjoy your first summer season.

Thanks Jim

We have been boatless for 5 long years. We’ve had go fast boats and slow boats. This boat offers some advantages of both.

Congratulations! We were at Port Alberni Mar 13 looking at a used R29 and got to view a beautiful new blue R29, is the new one we saw your baby? We have a new R31cb arriving at Port Alberni next week in time for an Easter shakedown cruise - hopefully we will meet up...

I went up there to look at their used boats. The price diff between new and used was less than 10% so we went new

Ours is a command bridge 29. The hull is dark gray but it looks blue in some light.

Would love to connect while there. The boat is staying for 4 weeks or so for break in and some other outfitting.

Congrats on the 31

Our boat will be called Pingu

My name is andre. See you there

Congrats on the new boat. I bought my used 2017 29-S from Port Boathouse in Port Alberni last June, and am very happy with it. It had 310 hours on it when I bought it and it has about 425 hours now. Hoping to put lots more on her this next boating season. Hope to see you on the water.

Our third time out. Flat calm in San Mateo

Gentoo:

I've had my 2019 R29 CB for some 2 yrs now. I really love it. It has met all my boating requirements. Have had no issues at all. Maybe I was lucky, but then I visited the factory several times as it was being built: the workman began to know who I was. 😉

IMO, the CB model is the best, and the R29 is the 'sweet' spot of the RT's model line up.

The R29 S/CB will go as slow as you want (mine has the Volvo slow-speed hardware/software for trolling needs), from 1 kt all the way up to 25-27 mph if you want, and it does not hesitate to take on fairly large waves with ease.

I had a full cockpit enclosure installed that allows me to go out any time of the year.

Enjoy your new boat.

Hi There,

Congrats! I just took delivery of a 2019 (never been splashed) blue R29 CB up here on the coast of Maine. We have done about six, 1/2 day trips and now have about 15 hours on the engine. The boat is one of the most well thought out designs I have ever seen (i've been boating and sailing for 30 years). My wife wanted power and the open airy views as she can get seasick when sailing and going down below. She LOVES the r29. Not even a hit of feeling bad, even in some very rough wind and water. I too was concerned how it would handle wavy conditions and it is amazingly stable. Wife and guests all comment on that when underway or on the anchor.

The boat is also just very comfortable to spend time on.. whether sitting on a mooring, at anchor, at a dock, or driving the time just ticks away. Day trips with 6 people are totally fine. Between the salon, the cockpit, the command bridge there are plenty of places to go and to sit. Also you can sit up top when nice and then late afternoon when driving into the 20knt seabreeze and 2-3 foot and close waves, I just go down inside shut the doors and windows and it's super warm and quiet pushing though the waves at 14 kn no problem.

I was also concerned about docking. That too is easy. Just nudge from neutral to forward (or reverse) in short bursts -and it's nice and slow. Bow and stern thrusters work well. Made me look like a pro 😀 I've docked have a dozen times now, and with wind. Very response. Throttle is touchy beyond the engaged bump but very smooth and east to operate.

First day out was 25 knts with 5-8 foot waves. A very rough day. We drove at about 10 knots into them for about 30 minutes. Lots of spray over the bow but otherwise OK (wipers work well btw). Though I would not want to do that regularly or for a long period of time. Turning and having those same waves following, I sped up to about 14 knts and hit the auto pilot. Bow up a little and it was fine.

Issues:

  • Engine battery will not hold a charge. Probably because it's older, not used. Dealer is swapping it out for a new one.
"water in fuel" error went on upon start. Stopped engine. Restarted. Hasn't repeated.
Anchor locker seems big but when retrieving anchor via the windlass the chain gets built up below and causes it to clog (need to figure out a way to spread the line out somehow)

You will love it. Slow or fast or sitting. It's a sweet and easy boat to be on.

Jeff
