Anxiously awaiting my new R27... have been lurking the forum trying to learn as much as I can!

I have come to appreciate the willingness of Ranger Tug owners to share in their experiences online (and in person- Thanks Perry, and Andrew too!).

My boat will be berthed in San Rafael, California and I'm looking forward to getting back on the water after quite a few years!

Cheers,
John

Welcome, looking on the map San Rafael looks like a great place for boating. Enjoy your new boat you have some great times ahead of you!

Welcome aboard John. The waiting part is now the toughest. Ask your contact at the factory if you can get some build photos as the production moves forward. It helps understand all that goes into the making of these great boats.

Hi John,
Welcome aboard! I was berthed in Brisbane when I took delivery last December, then moved to Pillar Point when fishing season began. I might go back to the Bay for the winter, but, it depends if I think I can get back to Pillar Point that typically has a long waiting list. We are on the boat today and it's normally much cooler that home in Palo Alto, but, today, it's opposite and we are running AC.

Jim,
Thanks for the tip! I toyed with the thought of going up to Washington to see some of the build, but have conflicts.

Cheers,
John

Thanks for the welcome, Paul. When I was young my family used to sail down the coast... stops back then required mooring in Half Moon Bay, so we usually just kept going down to Santa Cruz. We were lucky enough to get a look at an R27 in Half Moon Bay- a fishing competitor of yours I'm sure!

Cheers,
John

That sounds like Perry @AnnieTime. If we can build a critical mass of Bay Area boat owners, we may be able to develop some of the benefits that our friends in the PNW currently enjoy. Not only could we collaborate on boating ideas, there is a big gap in service availability and, as you know, no dealership. I don't trailer, so I'll be hauling out for service, likely at KKMI in Sausalito. My brother's Yamaha mechanic has to drive down from Petaluma to service his Grady White, so I figure I'll have him do my CW at the same timing.

You are correct... Perry was very kind and even took us for a short spin. He mentioned the wait time for slips which got me nervous, but I was able to secure a slip in San Rafael quickly. I'm glad he inspired me to search for slips earlier than I had planned.

I agree, there is always safety in numbers! I am envious of the camaraderie and convenience enjoyed by those up north.

I didn't realize that there aren't Yamaha techs around Sausalito. I'm also berthing the boat (and not purchasing a trailer, at least not now...). I'll have to do some research!

Cheers,
