Hi All,

We just joined Tugnuts although we have been reading the posts since January when we saw the Ranger Tug display at the Toronto Boat Show and fell in love with the boats especially the R-31. We were at the boat show looking at the various boats getting ideas on what we would like to buy to retire with in a few years, but were not very captivated by many until we spied the Ranger Tugs, and the Mrs. said "that's the one", and who was I to argue since I agreed.

I had not contemplated joining Tugnuts since we do not own our tug yet, but after meeting Ryan at Lefroy Harbour he stated I should join anyway, and here we are.

With regards to meeting Ryan the other day, he was very patient and exceptionally helpful in answering my questions and spending time with me going over boat features. A 1 hour stop turned into 4 hours. Now I know why comments have been made on here about how terrific and supportive Ryan and Lefroy Harbour are and truly do go above and beyond, and I do not even own one yet.

We are busy gathering as much information as we can find about tugs and boating in general. Although I have owned smaller boats in the past and sailed on various boats we have a lot to learn. I think am driving the Mrs. crazy with choosing potential boat names, I think we at at 500!

We look forward to reading and getting more information from experience owners posts.

Welcome to the TugNuts. Do be careful as membership in this organization comes with some pitfalls. In addition to receiving a nice hat from the factory, you will soon feel an uncontrollable urge to move your plans forward by months or even years. I suspect that by the time you have narrowed the name list to below 100 you will be closing in on a transaction.

Oh and by the way do not attend rallies such as the upcoming Roche Harbor Rendezvous unless you want your extended plans changed.

Seriously this forum is absolutely the best boat owners forum around. Anything you want to know about our boats is openly and freely discussed here. Click around, do some searches, check out some owners photo albums. If you are near any coast or body of water, some Ranger Tug owner will be available for conversation or a ride on their boat. Just ask on this forum.

Good Luck with your quest! and welcome to the TugNuts.

Thanks Walldog for the welcome. I already have the uncontrollable urge to move the plans forward and buy the boat tomorrow but Sarah will not let me sell the house and kick the kids out (just kidding). We are considering attending the North Channel Rendezvous in August which I am sure will be great to meet many current owners. In the mean time we just follow all the forums on here and look at all the great pictures and stories members post. One day we will hopefully do the great loop and maybe boat to the west coast and enjoy life on a boat.

Barry and Sarah-
Ela and I joined tugnuts prior to our purchase and learned a ton which was extremly helpful when it came time to get our boat (Bobolink. it is a small loud little bird). If you have a question, you post it and get a lot of useful feedback right away from someone (or a lot of someones) who have had similiar or exactly the same things prior.
Sarah's intuition on wanting a Ranger Tug was a good one. as you go through them you are often surprised at the thoughtful little details you find and excellent workmanship that went into them.
If you are coming out to the Rendevous at Roche Harbor, let us know. It will be our first time to a Tugnut event, so we newbies can hang out.
Ours is an R27. We will eventually work our way up to an R31, as I really want a flying bridge, but que sera sera for now I will drive from below.
Welcome to the tugnut family!
