Take a look. R-27 2011 Classic. I updated the upholstery, but the big improvement is how much more room there is in the cabin. I removed 3 1/2" from the seat widths and table. I recommend considering this modification.

Nice looking upholstery. Did you cut down the size of the tabletop? If so, how did you accomplish that?

Do you have a before photo? Did that molded fiberglass stick out more?
Maybe I am not understanding your modification.

Yes, I cut off 3 1/2" of the table too. I cut the outboard side down, didn't bother with making radius corners. Im a woodworker so that helped. If you want to do this you can call me; long winded explanation. Another bonus is that I modified the table to connect to the bottom of the magazine holder. This really stiffened up the table when its in the up position. I can explain this in further detail too if you're interested. Both of these modifications changed the cabin experience.

No, I did not do anything to the molded fiberglass. The chair backs and seats are plywood, so I cut off 3 1/2" of the inboard sides (not too difficult but maybe for someone not too experienced) before I had the upholstery done by Classic Upholstery in Anacortes. The cabin walkway width is way more comfortable and functional, less of an intimate experience when walking pass your shipmate.

My friend said I should offer to do this for other people. Maybe so, depending on the response.

Great improvement. We cuss the narrow passage, cause two people and both are on the wrong end of the boat, and it gets friendly when you pass in the center. 3 1/2" isn't much, but you have shown that it is enough. We also have a 2011 R-27, and the upholstry was updated before we got the boat.

We solve the “meet in the middle” problem by one of us stepping into the indentation at the galley sink on the starboard side. My gut tells me the indentation was put there for that very reason. In any case, I am considering this modification. The woodworking skill on display for the table cut down is exemplary.

Another question. Did you recenter the table top on the pillar, or did you move the base of the pillar? Haven't looked to see how the table is attached to top of pillar.

Yes, 3 1/2” makes an amazing difference. A nicer look too.

I did not move the pedestal, only screws to remove. So, the table top was shifted over.
