NextGen generator manual

Hi,

We have a 2021 R29-CB (US-FMLT2910H021) and I cannot seem to find the manual for the NextGen generator. I am trying to collect softcopies of all the manuals anyway. Can you confirm the specific model of generator? and can you also point me to a softcopy? Want to make sure I keep up on required service, etc, and the manual will greatly help with that.

Ok, I may have answered my own question. Looks like a NextGen 3.5KW ultra-compact generator. Here is a link to the product page, which includes links to the PDFs for the Tech Sheet and Owners Manual.

That is the owners manual that came with our 2021 R29S. It also came with a Operator's Manual for the Kubota Diesel EA330-E4 (-NB1) & (-NB3). Hopefully you can find that online also because the paper copy is a foldout copy (printed in Japan and marked KUBOTA Corporation 2012) that will not be easy to photocopy. If you can't find it online or from the factory, PM me and I will attempt to copy it in sections that make it usable.

Be sure to take a look at my thread over in the Cutwater General Tech section. Two weeks ago I lost compression in my NextGen 3.5 on my 2019 C-28. 20 hours on the gen.

Lots of trouble-shooting but it turned out that I just wasn't using the gen enough and never loading it down. I had been just turning it ON for five minutes to check it and then turning it back OFF. Not good and the piston rings sealed up with carbon. Very little compression and it would not fire.

The thought was that I had inhaled some water, did a hydro-lock and cracked the head or block.

But as one last shot, I poured about an ounce of 30 wt. oil down the air filter snout, cranked it, then did it again, one "firing", and one more time and it started right up. Just enough piston to cylinder sealing to get it started. Compression.

Spoke to the NextGen factory and Ken said to run the stuffings out of it for a couple hours, under every load that I could put to it. A/C, Hot Water Heater, Charger, etc. Did that and it has started every time.

So the moral of this story is that these generators like to work and whenever I head out for a cruise now, I run the gen with the A/C turned ON. Just some "care & feeding" info for the crew...Bob/Bradenton

Hi Bob,

Thanks for the info. I'll check that thread. We haven't used the generator hardly at all this past year, but I'll keep your suggestions in mind and figure out our routine so that we exercise the generator properly this year as we plan to use the boat much more.
