Does anyone have recommendations for launch ramps/day cruises in the general NH seacoast area? Northern Mass, NH, Southern ME are all close enough to consider.

Greetings,
Dead Duck in Eliot Maine 20 bucks to launch and parking for truck and trailer, Badger Island Marina also has a ramp, limited parking though.

Howdy Redtug,

Rye Harbor Ramp, Pierce Island Ramp in Portsmouth, Wells Harbor Ramp are the three I use. There is one at Traip in Kittery but I don't think we can make the swing with the length of the trailer for the R21. There is also Cashman Park in Newburyport on the Merrimack.

Wells is the easiest at all tides and currently is free. Pierce Island is good from about half tide and up, although you can do it at any tide there is not very much dock at low. Also, a bit hairy to get there through downtown Portsmouth and you want to make sure you are on the up tide side of the dock as I have seen many people damage their boats thinking the current isn't as strong as it is. Rye is good except 1 hour before/after low. Years of people power loading have eroded the bottom of the ramp and if you go off, you may get stuck.

There is also one in Elliot and I believe in Dover up by great bay but I forget the name.

Did we meet at the Standish ramp on Sebago a few weeks ago?

Be well.

Great Bay Marine in Newington is a few miles up the Piscataqua River....nice area for boating and transient moorings

I was up there late July on the maiden voyage. An R21 was coming in as we were launching. Sounds like it was you.

Thanks for the details on the ramps. Definitely looking for some easier ramps to build confidence in my help as they are not comfortable with the boat or driving the trailer...

Redtug,

Yep that was me at the ramp. How are you liking your R-21 so far? If you have any questions, don't hesitate to reach out.

See you on the ramps!

Hi Sheepdog,

Nice to make contact here - only a matter of time before the next question arises about the boat.
Boat has been great! Spent a week up in Northern Maine early august, looking forward to some more adventures on the NH seacoast this fall.

Hey Sheepdog and Redtug! - I must have missed you both as I was up on Sebago last month with my 21-ec! Its a great lake for the 21 and we had a blast. There is a public ramp in Yarmouth on the Royal River that is good except for at low tide. You can get to Portland Harbor from there. The ramp in Portland is on the prominade is good but steep and requires a 4x4 truck due to the ramp being slippery. I did a video of my Sebago trip on my blog at Littleredtug.com - maybe we can get all the boats out there one day! - Jonathan

HI Jonathan - Just watched your Sebago episode and realized you may be partly responsible for my Tug purchase this summer 🙂. Through the endless scouring of the internet for details on these boats I came across your youtube videos prior to finding my boat, good stuff.
I used to kayak Brimfield all the time when I lived in Western Mass. If you are up in NH/ME again let me know.
Redtug.

HI Jonathan,

I have seen your videos as well, thanks for putting them up! I believe there is another red R21 in brandy pond, just up the locks from Sebago as well. I spend a lot of time up on Sebago on overnights/2nighters. We sold our place up there a few years back, so the Island Girl gives me a dose of the lake whenever I need it. Also spend a lot of time off the Maine/NH coast, lots of nights at the Isles of Shoals. We should plan an R21 meetup for next summer!
