Just bought my lovely R23 two weeks ago. Went to take her out today, disconnected fron shore power, and turned on the imverter and no ac power and no battery charger. Am I doing something wrong?

On an unrelated note how do I get the garmin display to show heading and depth? I’m getting just dashed lines where the numbers should be.

Thanks,

Do you have a breaker on the AC panel labeled battery charger? Is it on?

Is the water shallow? You could be inside the minimum depth of the sounder

It was on I turned it off after i switched to inverter. Im on shore power now with battery charger on.

I was in 30 plus feet of water today no heading info or depth. GPS nav works fine shows correct position and orientation of the boat.

When you are disconnected from shore power your battery charger should not be on and the boat is probably wired that way so that you do not blow the inverter. The inverter should have a switch to activate it. Operation of the inverter will depend on what you have and how you are wired. My personal preference is to only put the inverter on when I need 110v power when on the hook or heat something in the microwave while cruising. When all is done I turn it off.

Turning on the inverter is a two step process. #1 - Press and hold the inverter toggle switch for about one second. This toggle switch is located near the reading lamp in the cave. #2 On the breaker panel slide the plastic guard from the inverter breaker and slide it over the shore power breaker. (Prevents trying to have both shore power and inverter breakers closed at the same time.) Close the inverter breaker and you should now have inverter available. There is NO NEED and it is NOT recommended to run the battery charger off of the inverter.

Found the inverter toggle switch (hadn’t seen it before) It all worked exactly as you described. Must have missed that bit during my checkout. I love this boat and am really happy I found this site.

Many thanks for your help!

In regards to the no depth, go to your sonar page and hit traditional. This is sometimes needed on the 7610 plotter with the software. Please let me know if that gets the depth going. Also, on the heading, is the boat under cover?

Thanks again,

Thanks again,

That was exactly the fix! Mike Parramore, Service manager at Nautical Ventures responded to my voicemail this morning and walked me through the nav pages. All fixed, depth and heading! I am one happy camper.
