My 2016 R27 is about to go out on a long charter, and I'm being told the autopilot isn't coming up, on either the autopilot display or on the multi-function display. Everything else is powered up as it should be. I told the mechanic to have a look at the control box in the starboard lazarette above the AP pump, and also the control box on the wall in the cave (I forget which box does what, but they're both part of the AP system) in case maybe a cable got knocked loose or something.

Any other words of wisdom? Maybe a hidden fuse somewhere he should check? Anybody ever have a similar issue?

Thanks

On my 2012 R27 there is a 40 amp blade fuse in one of the Power Distribution Panels in the port lazarette under the battery switches labeled “Autopilot Pump”. Heavy corrosion on this fuse prevented power from getting to the autopilot controller. I’m not at the boat so I can’t tell you on which of the two panels this fuse is located. And I may have the amp value incorrect, but it is substantial.

We had a similar issue when new, and it turned out to be a power cable that had worked loose after a couple of months. So that aligns with your thinking -- good luck on it being so simple!
