Noisy water pump R27

Replaced water lines to the pump with flexible ones, and installed a large expansion tank directly off the pump discharge line. The pump isn’t silent but much quieter than when the plastic lines off the pump were in direct contact with the boat without any isolation.

There is a process to starting the pump after it has been run empty.

Switch the pump off. Open ALL faucets. Turn the pump on. Let water flow for a few seconds on all faucets. Turn off faucets one at a time from nearest the pump to farthest.

We have to do this every time we empty the tank and air gets into the system.

They make ultra quite RV water pumps, you can purchase at any RV supply or on line. They will cost more than the ones that are usually used in our boats but not that much more! A quick search on the web and you can check out the reviews, shure-flow has one for about $65 that has some good reviews

+1 to the accumulator tank. Also a variable speed pump is less distracting IMO than the pulsing on/off pumps that are installed from the factory.

My 2020 R27 OB came equipped with a Jabsco Par-Max 3.5GPM water pump and it was noisy as well while sitting on a piece of pad. Because I wanted a pump with more pressure capable of flushing the 300 HP outboard, a Jabsco V-Flo 5GPM is now installed. There is now enough pressure and the pump operates much quieter while mounted on the four rubber grommets.
There are no other changes to the piping and no accumulator is installed.
