Joining this conversation late, but we’d definitely be interested. We’re in Salem, MA with plans to go down to the eastern end of the sound in late July/August.

We’d be interested! We are in Monmouth Beach NJ.

Hey folks, Here's a kind of non-update. Sam Bisset from Ranger posted a reply to this thread and invited me to send him a note via e-mail which I had done on September 19. I never got a reply or call from Sam. I'm sure something just got mixed up. I then got busy with trying to find a new marina in an emergency during the last few weeks of the season, as our marina would not renew our contract because we don't spend enough money there (no it's not a country club). I got involved with that, a preplanned trip overseas and winterizing, and frankly forgot after that. I'll try reaching out to Sam again. Maybe something can be salvaged for this season, if not maybe for the next. I suppose a few of us could still try to get together somewhere. I'll keep you posted.

I apologize for dropping the ball.
Greg

Hi Greg,

I just reached out to you via email. I'm sorry I missed your original contact. Looking forward to catching up and seeing if we can help.

thanks!

Okay folks - here's a great update: Spoke with Sam a little earlier. The factory is on board and ready to help. I have a marina in Milford, CT with several open weekend dates where we can hold the event. The marina, Lisman Landing, has a pavilion, renovated bathrooms, pumpout and fuel nearby. Very short distance to downtown Milford with several restaurants and shops. The marina next door with the pumpout and fuel also has a very good chandlery for your boating needs.

Milford is a small city between New Haven and Bridgeport, approximately mid Long Island Sound. I have some feelers out for other locations, but I do think this one is good.

I asked the marina for 10-20 slips, but they can possibly accommodate more, depending on the selected dates. I'm thinking that a Friday through Sunday is best, but during the week works for me as well and there is almost always more availability during the week. As of this writing, there are open weekends when the pavilion is not reserved. All interested, please let me know, ASAP and I'll reserve a block of slips and the Pavilion.

Thank you,
Greg

Would be interested as I live in the area. Boat is in the Hudson. Please let me know where and when

Just read your update. It all sounds good and would be in for a Fri,sat, sun or during the week. But just let me know the dates.

I’m interested. Stayed there last summer and its excellent. The facilities were clean, good dock help, plenty of good restaurants, town is literally a stones throw away, there is an awesome little ice cream stand behind the marina and Charles Island protects the entrance to the harbor. There is also train access for family and friends visits. Across Long Island Sound (12 nm) is Port Jefferson for a quick day trip too. Highly recommend it. Gary

I have some inquiries in for other locations, including Essex, CT. So far no-one has responded. Many other marinas are nice, but they have limited transient dockage. Lisman landing in Milford is only transient. There is a boat launch on site as well. I'll probably book an August Thursday through Sunday in Milford tomorrow so we have a spot. There are plenty of nice locations, but a few things that Milford has going for it are that you are 300-400 yards from downtown, there is a pavilion, renovated restrooms and there is a full service marina next door. Also, we live in Milford, so we'll have one car with us (my truck will most likely be in Mystic) which can be handy in an emergency.

Again, I think being in the middle of LIS is fairly central to all who may attend from as far south as Maryland to North Shore, MA. Although I live in Milford, we keep our our tug Jack in Mystic, so I'll have to drive there and take the 50+ NM trip back to Milford with the boat, and then back to Mystic after the rendezvous. All in good fun.

Here it is: Northeast Ranger Tugs Rendezvous 2023, August 10-13, Milford, CT

When: Arrive any time after 1:00 PM on Thursday, August 10. Two days in port on Friday and Saturday. Depart before 12:00 PM on Sunday, August 13.

Where: Milford Lisman Landing Marina, 37 Helwig Street, Milford, CT 06040

Details: Look forward to three days of meeting and getting to know fellow Ranger Tug owners, sharing experiences and checking out each other’s boats. The factory is going to reach out to the dealers in the area for their involvement. I’m looking to see if we can maybe get a short seminar on a boating related subject. The factory will also provide us with some SWAG. I’ve managed to secure the Marina’s pavilion for our use for get togethers, activities, group meals if we wish, etc. I plan on providing some live musical entertainment at some point, either from my duo or my solo vocal/guitar act.

Still have a lot of work to do, but am thinking of loosely following the format of other rendezvous events in which the first night is a cocktail hour and then a pot-luck/sharing dinner. The second night is usually also a pot luck dinner, but my wife and I were thinking we could make this a New Haven Pizza night. For those of you who don’t know, Pepe’s and Sally’s in New Haven, CT are famous for some of the absolute best pizza on the planet. New Haven area folks claim that Frank Pepe invented pizza as we know it. We can order and I’ll take the short drive to New Haven and pick up the pies we need. Just an idea.

The third night will be a dinner at a local restaurant. The dinner will be either fully or partially sponsored by the factory – depends on how many participants we have.

Area: The Milford Lisman Landing Marina is located in Milford Harbor and is as far into the harbor as one can navigate. As such, the water is calm and the walk into downtown Milford is measured in feet or yards and not miles. There are plenty of shops and restaurants in downtown Milford and the fare ranges from ice cream to tacos to burgers to high end dining and everything in between. No fast food, however. The neighboring marina, Milford Boat Works has a well-stocked ship’s store in the event you should need something for your boat. They also have a few nice gifts.

Marina and Dockage Reservations: Each tug owner will need to make his/her own reservations. Dockage is $3.50/foot for the Thursday night and $4.00/foot on Friday and Saturday nights. Shore power is $10.00/night for 30 amp and $15.00/night for 50 amp service. The marina offers free pump out services and there is fuel next door at Milford Boat Works. For those of you wishing to trailer your boat, there is a city ramp on site. You will need a permit to use the ramp, but the marina will waive the permit fees with two nights of dockage. When you make your reservations either via phone or Dockwa, please let them know that you are part of the Ranger Tug group, as they will try to make sure that we’re all together. I would suggest making reservations sooner rather than later, as although they are planning on us, they will take reservations on a first come, first served basis. As long as a cancellation is received more than 24 hours in advance, you are entitled to a full refund.

Here is the link to Milford Lisman Landing’s web page where you will find the information you need to make your reservation:https://www.ci.milford.ct.us/harbor-management-commission-marina/pages/milford-lisman-landing-marina

Please e-mail me, Greg Zigmont at zigracer@aol.com once you have made your reservations and include how many people on your crew, so I can get a head count.
