To all you Tugnutters in the Great Northeast:

I know I am jumping the gun, but I would like to put my bid in to hold the 2014 Northeast Rendezvous in Salem Harbor, MA.

Salem, MA is the home of Peter & Diane Haywood's Winter Island Yacht Yard, a dealer and service provider of Ranger Tugs with support second to none. There are also many restaurants and attractions for kids right at the water's edge. There are many marinas that we can talk to about dockage and moorings.

To the Rendezvous Committee: I am offering my volunteer service if you concur with the Salem, MA venue.

Thanks for the input. Usually we take a census of those in attendance, but I will voice your input. Hey, why not join us, if not by boat you can always come by car and wish you brought your boat. Some people do drive to attend. It is a great event and it would be nice to see all your mods in person!

Barry,
I too would like to see the 2014 gathering held in Salem. Are you planning to attend this years gathering? If you are thinking of sailing down, contact me as Peggy and I thinking of going from Dennis, MA to the gathering. We sailed to the first Essex, CT gathering and it was a really good voyage and experience.

We have just about everything wrapped up for this year's event at Greenport, Long Island and we will be posting a link to the sign up form and agenda. We will have presentations from Garmin, trailer maintenance, knot tying, smart phone apps round table, coast guard inspections, meals, raffles etc. Kenny Marrs from Ranger Tugs is flying in for the event and I am sure will be able to answer all of our questions and take a look at specific items on your boat. It is important to make either hotel or Marina reservations as soon as you can at Mitchell Park Marina since this is prime season.
We would like your attendance commitment by August 1st. If you do a search for Northeast Gathering, the thread should show up with the local hotel info for those who may be driving there. I am looking forward to seeing past attendees and new attendees as well. We are hoping to see our Cutwater friends as well. Bofill Marine has been kind enough to sponsor our dinner!

Coming from Maine , we would likely chug down for a Salem event . 4 thumbs up here ... And 8 paws !

Cruising through the scenic Cape Cod Canal is on my list of places to explore.
Then before or after visit Provincetown MA on the tip of Cape Cod.
Sounds great to me.
Newport RI would be a great spot also.. Dockage could be a problem during peak season. I went through Newport harbor yesterday and it is full of mega yachts.

Unfortunately, my vacation overlaps with this year's rendezvous and thus YOLO will be unable to attend.

Barry, you need to get your priorities straight!! Ranger Rendezvous trumps vacation.

I look at it this way- The Ranger Tug Rendezvous IS a vacation!

Everything is set for our 2013 Northeast Gathering/Rendezvous. Click on the link below for the sign up sheet, agenda and all the information. We have an August 1st deadline for signing up so that we can get head count to the caterer etc. Reservations need to be made on your own at the Mitchel Park Marina in Greenport, Long Island. For those who are traveling to the event by car there is hotel information in this thread. We have several seminars planned along with, food, drink and raffles.
Hope to see some of you there.

I fully endorse Barry's recommendation for the reasons stated...oh, and our tug Indian Summer is moored there too. 😀 As a Salem resident, I would be happy to assist in any preparations for a future rendezvous.

Sadly, we too have other plans the week of the Greenport event. Even more sad is that we went to college on Long Island, and I used to crew aboard the schooner Mary E out of Greenport. It's a great town, and you'll have a great time. I wish we could be there. Enjoy the event!
