Northern or Southern Gulf Islands

we are doing the Desolation Sound trip. We have to drop my son off in Vancouver to fly out, and then are looking for a next stop recommendation in the Northern or Southern Gulf Islands as we meander are way back south. We are doing the Rendezvous in Sept, so will hit the San Juan's then. Got a favorite spot?

It all depends on the weather! Since you will be in Vancouver you will have to cross the Strait of Georgia to get back to the Gulf Islands. Can be dead calm or really bumpy. Wait for a good weather window and head for Active Pass. Once inside the Gulf Islands you might as well head north since it sounds like you will be there for a while and can work your way back south before the Rendezvous. Montague Harbor is nice for a first stop. There you have the option to stay at the Marina, grab a buoy at the Provincial Park, stay at the Park dock, or just anchor out. On you way back south be sure to stop at Ganges on Salt Spring Island. There is a Farmers Market on Saturdays.
