oil change!!!!

If you happen to have an automobile with a real oil pressure gauge (remember those??) and not an idiot light, you'll notice the same thing. When the oil pump runs faster (it's engine driven), it puts out more oil, thence more pressure. You'll notice a slight drop too when the oil heats up, but probably not much.

If you have the old style oil filter P/N 895207, a Fram CH8158 is the same filter for $15 not $59± that Mercury / Cummins will charge you for their P/N 895207. The original filter in my Cummins 150 was a MOPAR (Chrysler Corp.) filter, go figure...

I don't remember the exact numbers, but yes, the pressure drops when idling. I turned the idle way slow (to try to troll - didn't work very well) and haven't turned it up again. The pressure also drops as the oil warms - after hours at running at speed. As far as I know - all normal performance. We have 796 hours on our 110 - and it sure liked running at 3000 rpm the other day. I haven't talked myself into 3100 yet....

Andrew, This discussion got me interested in the idle on my 21 and I appreciate your response to my question. The lever was just stuck and now operates as intended. Thanks for your help to all of us on the Tugnuts and I hope you get some rest between all of the Boat shows. The 29 looked great at Atlanta and I am sorry I left before you arrived on Sunday, it would have been a pleasure to put a face with the name that helps us.
