What is your favorite pump to change your oil?

I use a wear Marine 6 gallon manual pump. Bought it on sale with a gift card so it makes me feel like I got it almost free. It also works well to periodically pump the bilge dry on my R27. I had a fuel pick up leak from a poorly installed fitting. The fitting was replaced when the Yanmar was replaced by Yanmar due to some sort of warranty issue in 2012/13 for the previous owner. The pump pulled the fuel contaminated water/fuel out so I could let the water and fuel separate in the pump and decant the fuel in to a container for proper disposal - no spill over the side from the bilge pump.....

Oops West marine pump - never claimed to be a typist....

Reverso gear (not impeller) pump, ideally in a manifold with valves, permanently connected to the oil drain(s).

This style works great. This is not the exact one I have (No longer marketed), especially if oil is warm. Plenty of capacity. Can also be used to vacuum messes out of bilge, suck out the oil filter cannister, change trans oil, etc. If you look, you can find one with the hose thread adapter that fits Mercruiser also. Moeller also makes one with multiple fittings. Also use it to change oil on my small engines, mower, pressure washer, snow blower, etc.

West Marine manual pumps are so simple.....I use them for multiple oil and fluid draws with the variety of tubes that come with. I think I paid 50 bucks on sale.......

I too am pleased with the operation of the West Marine manual vacuum 6 quart pump.

Here’s another thumb’s up for the Reverso gear (not impeller) pump that Richard on NewMoon has. More on the expensive side, but stout and bullet proof. Defender puts them on sale at least once a year I think.

I have tried a few different types. I carry a hand pump on the boat while doing long cruises that will require an oil change. I just bought the jabsco https://www.hodgesmarine.com/jab178..._poh-q2wtm-aJVguSzkPACvcA9ALqNfUaArT-EALw_wcB and in my opinion it is the easiest and cleanest way to change the oil. My only warning is to remove the small pickup tube when pumping the used oil out from collector pail. Don't ask how I know!

I also use the Jabsco pump mentioned above. Fast and easy with minimum mess, if you remove the plastic pick up tube before pumping used oil from the container. 😀

I also have the Jabsco. Works well for me, especially if you warm up the engine.
