Upon taking delivery of our 2013 31 CB, the boat yard discovered that the end of the oil dipstick to the generator is broken off. The boat yard ordered us a new dipstick, which we have. I tried to insert the new dipstick, but had difficulty, and aborted the operation before causing more harm. I'm afraid the broken piece of the old dipstick is blocking the canal. I'm thinking I'll have to give the marina a shot at it.
Anyone have any experience with this problem, and know of a solution?

I have a 2015 31 CB and had a problem like that. My dip stick had puncture and gone thru the rubber tube that guides it down to the engine. The dip stick got stuck and the end broke off trying to remove it. I had to replace the tube guide that runs from the top down to the engine, it is one medal and rubber assembly bolted at the top and then one allen bolt at the engine. Very difficult to reach the bottom allen bolt, must have very small hands and a lot of patience. If you order a new one, have them send you that allen screw (bolt) that attaches the assembly at the engine as well, so you know what size allen wrench to use as you will be working blind. Good Luck, and you might want a onan mechanic to do the job. Feel free to send me a PM if you want my ph# for more info.

Thanks so much, Dayle. That's a lot more than I knew in the first place, and very helpful.
