Anyone have any experience or tips/tricks for replacing the oil filter on a Mase Generator on a Cuterwater 28? It is located under the cooler on the pet side inside the storage cabinet. I took off the front panel and can barely feel the cap for the filter, but can get in there to unscrew it and take it out.

Not really a filter, more of a screen. Most important, do not bend it. Save the old one in case things go horribly wrong.

This is a factory fault. There should have been a hole in the outside cover so the filter could slide straight out. Short of drilling the frame with a larger hole your stuck. I have pulled the filter as far as it will slide and then blasted the dirt off with a solvent, so it’s clean looking. Back together and running, over 500 hours.

Alice, was the filter just a thumb screw or is there a fastener holding it in? The picture in the manual looks like there's a fastener, but when I use my camera to try and see what's there, I don't see it. Either way, I can't get my hand in there to even get it part of the way out. Any more help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi James on my Mase 2.7 there is a hex bolt I believe is a 8 mm that you can reach with a small wrench or socket that is forward of where the oil filter is located. If it’s ever been changed it probably has white paint on it. The filter cap is an oblong shaped plastic that seals the separate filter in place. Be careful you don’t lose the hex nut or it will disappear. I put a rag underneath the hex nut to catch it if it falls out. The rag will also catch some oil; but pump the old oil first otherwise a mess will ensue. Of course the nut is directly behind a frame member so you’ll need a small wrench offset or a small ratchet. Good luck with this adventure .
