After the recommended twenty to thirty hour of operation, the book says you must change oil and filter. But guess what?
After having a mechanic drained out the oil and taking out the filter at $75.00 an hour, I find the nearest filter was in Wisconsin. The book says $65.00 for one. Now how much do I add for over night shipping? Andrew is having Cummins send a couple of them from Seattle. Wow, anyone want to trade a Cummins for a Yanmar. So we will set here in St Augustine for a few days at $48.00 a night. Nice place though.
Factory says this one is my baby. Freight and all. You would think Cummins would step up to the plate.
No cross reference on these filters from wix or anyother
While we are here I thought it was good time to find out where the water was leaking when filling the boat with fresh water. Found it yesterday. Top of the water tank. Need to cut a hole in the floor to get to in. The water also leaks into the bilge when hooked up to shore water. Have not found that one yet. I would be very leary of leaving these boats hooked up to shore water and then leaving the boat for any lenght of time. The track record is very poor for hose connections or anything with clamps. Andrew says the factory will fix it under warranty.
