I recently had some small amount of oil peeking from the screw on top of the steering wheel column. My under standing is that this a venting screw for some expansion of the liquid.

Anyone experienced this? Not a convenient place to have oil exiting and dripping on the floor (small amount)

Hydraulic fluid for steering. If I am not mistaken the reservoir is in the housing around the steering column. I was sort of surprised when I found this out. I believe it is not uncommon for an occasional drip but perhaps others have input on this.

In the heat of the Summer I will get a small amount oozing out, no other time. I believe it is normal.
My previous boat had the same system and it would happen on that system also.
Just make sure your fluid level is OK.

Yep, it's normal. If you take the plug out you'll see two groves that allow for venting. If it's a little overfilled it will vent. It takes a bit if time but eventually enough oozes out that it really doesn't happen anymore.
