So I have search the forums and found similar topics but not one that seems to directly addresses this issue. On my 2013 R-27 that I have had only for a few months I have recently noticed that under throttle (even with just a slight increase to the throttle) my oil pressure jumps from its normal 50 psi or so up to 100 psi (all the way to the right). I know that as you increase speed the oil pressure will increase, but a swing of 40-50psi seems pretty generous in my option.
I have checked the oil and its level is fine and color is good. Engine was warmed up and not cold when I was noticing the swings in pressure. Everything seems to be running fine. No vibration or rough running from the engine.
Is this swing in pressure normal and I just haven't been paying attention all the time?
thanks

There have been instances of erratic oil pressure readings. Mechanically all is well. It has to do with software and grounding. There was a service bulletin on the Yanmar. Is yours a volvo or Yanmar?

Thank you for the response. The engine is a Volvo

I vaguely remember form my days of working on cars while going to school that they had something called "an oil pressure relief valve". These had to do with relieving excess pressure built up when engine worked at higher RPM's. It sounds as if yours is not working as intended unless this is computer related/sender related/software related error.

Maybe Volvo has a place to thread in a mechanical oil pressure gauge. That would tell you if the oil pressure really is that high or you have an electronics type issue.
