Hi-
has anyone installed a Surface or 12vdc computer on board? Looking at mounting options as I like to use Coastal Explorer. Specifically an R-23 but all input is good.

The Intel NUC PC would plug right into your existing Garmin Plotter and support the touch screen. That would be my recommendation!

there is a 12v power adapter for surface on amazon.com that you can wire in. two fiddles top and bottom screwed into the dash can hold any table device.

I think the key to the best experience is to install a wifi repeater for the NMEA network as it provides all the NMEA data to the table.

the vesper marine 8000 series AIS transponder I think is the cleanest solutoin and gives you AIS data as well. Quite a few folks route this data to navionics on ipad over wifi.

im a long time user of surface and considered it for some time for the boat. however the ipad with GPS and NMEA data wins for me.

I'm interested in the Intel NUC. So, the Garmin can be used as a display/monitor for the Intel? That would be the best bet. I dont have the boat yet so I cant play with the Garmin.
