Kathy and I took Sea Holli out for an evening cruise yesterday. Barnegat Bay was flat and empty. We only saw four other boats, and one of them was USCG. I pulled us into a cove at Berkeley Island and dropped the hook, it jammed. I wound a few feet back in, and spooled the line out, no problem. Recovering the anchor all hell broke loose. The line double fed around the gypsy wheel. Un-fouling the line I found one of the plastic guide levers (Port side, under the gypsy wheel) had split down the middle and was snagging the line. I retrieved the anchor the old fashion way, by hand.
This morning, a quick call to Tim Taylor at Pocket Yachts, and replacement parts are on the way.
Tim also suggested I replace the shackle, line to chain, with a swivel shackle 5/16". Bought that today at WM. (Along with a few things I didn't need...)

This is the fun part of a Happy Mariner's Life...Breaking and fixin' stuff!

So I have heard that Lewmar makes a metal guide lever rather than the plastic ones. I have not tried to source them yet but it seems to be a common problem.

They make the same part in stainless steel, I have one coming. If you look under the gypsy wheel you'll see a gray part held on with two allen screws. That part goes over the axle of the gypsy and guides the anchor line. Tim from Pocket Yachts says they break, so I asked for the stainless.
