Options for Cockpit Cover for R-27

We are purchasing a 2016 R-27 that has no cockpit shade cover. We, currently, have an R-21EC with a cover and would like to get something for this new boat. Any thoughts on what our options are? Are there any options for a hard cover? We called Ranger and it seems that they do not sell a soft cover so not sure if there is a preferred vendor out there for this or not. I’m shocked Ranger Tug parts did not refer you to King Marine Canvas of Seattle. They have patterns for all the various Ranger Tug models. They made me a replacement for my 2012 R27 for $1,100 +/- with shipping. Even though they have patterns, they wanted me to send my old one.

Actually, they did refer us to King Marine and we called them and they do not do self-installed cockpit covers. You have to bring the boat to them and we are in Maine, so that is not going to work. We need something that can be installed by us or by a marina. We keep the boat at a marina that does a lot of boat work and I have not yet asked them as they do not specialize in Ranger Tugs but they can install most anything but I wanted to see what the options were. There should be a canvas shop somewhere within a reasonable tow of where you keep the boat that can make one for you. The good shops are booked weeks or months out.

Did the same as CaspersCruiser for my 2011 R27, without the old one as a pattern. Took a while for King Marine due to their production workload. Granted, already had the stainless tubing support structure, but new bimini top/cockpit canvas fit perfectly. I just had to install the snaps in the right location. Was an ideal excuse to add the snap setting tool to the rigging tool bag.

YOLO is in Massachsetts. King Marine made the original sand Sunbrella bimini. Two years ago we sent them the bimini and asked them to make us a new one, this time out of white Stamoid. Perfect fit.
