Good day fellow 21 EC owner,

I am thinking about getting an outboard motor for trolling and would like to know if you have done so with you tug? If So, how many horse power are needed to push the boat ?

thanks!

I would assume perhaps a 4-5 mph max could be achieved with a 6-8 hp. However more hp would result in less work for the motor, consequently at a lower decibel level. Being partial to Yamaha I am sure your local dealer could suggest the right size.

.. I had a custom aluminum outboard pod made and installed for my 2005 21 classic last fall .. I have a 9.9 Yamaha with electric start and power tilt and also installed a second steering and control station on the starboard side just ahead of the aft seat ..the station controls and steering wheel are mounted on an aluminum panel, that is mounted on the inside of the rearmost storage opening under the gunwale, so that the steering wheel just clears .. it's principally a lake boat and hope to have it in the water before May 1 to see how it all works out .. I have pictures of the pod if anyone is interested.. I also incorporated a collapsing swim ladder on one side.. Rob
