Hello to all my friends at Ranger Tugs,

I recently took delivery of a new 2021 R-31 CB (JACKPOT II) from Peter Haywood at Winter Island Yacht Yard in Salem MA. I have been extremely pleased with my vessel and wrote a submission to Tugnuts that Brain Dickhaut said he enjoyed and has used in the Testimonial pages of the Ranger Tug website.

That being said, among the options I ordered was both the interior and cockpit carpet runners both of which I like very much. While looking at the Ranger Tug website the other day, I noticed that the outdoor cockpit carpet runner is no longer being offered as an option on the R-31 CB. Is this correct or perhaps just an omission? I anticipated that my original cockpit runner might last two or three seasons and that I would be able to order another one when mine wore out or rotted. Could you please get back to me and elaborate on the status of this option? Thank you!

Cheers,

My boat came with the outdoor carpet. It continually got wet, even with full enclosure. We discarded it and replaced with Raptor Deck material. It is easy to clean with a hose and brush and resists stains, even motor oil comes out.

I had the Holly/Teak factory provided optional carpet for my R29 CB for the cockpit and cabin flooring area. I found it was a quality carpet, very rugged, and easy cleaned. It is VERY durable IMO. I occasionally cleaned it simply by pulling it off the boat, and high power washed it with clean water and let it dry out. It dries quickly. It's underneath is premium rubber and IMO will take many many moons to encourage rotting conditions.

The Raptor decking looks good, but do not think it will not scuff up and get a bit dirty looking over time. Yes, some cleaning effort can be used to spiff it up, but this will not ever bring it back to looking new and pristine. I had it under my Holly/Teak factory carpet, so I do have some experience in saying this.

Ditto. Our cockpit carpet got smelly fairly quickly and it wasn't so easy to take on and off to avoid the smell, so we get the Raptor deck. To Baz's comments, I can't speak for longevity of it as we just installed it.
