Went on a short trip before I realized I overfilled the gear box. Will this do any damage to the transmission? I sucked out till the correct amount immediately. Do you measure with the dip screwed in or just resting on top to the fill hole? I heard both.

Jim,

As long as you corrected the fluid level you should be fine, its worse to have low fluid then high fluid. Yes with high fluid level you can have some fluid come out the breather and worse conditions it pushes past the seals but that really only applies if we have been running it overfilled for extended time. To properly check the fluid level you want to remove the dipstick, wipe clean, then just set it in the hole making sure it is straight as possible and then finally remove and check the level which you want at the top mark. Also be sure not to cross thread the dipstick as they are not cheap, I believe they are about $80!! Hope this helps.

Thank you,
Kevin Lamont
