Packing Gland Excessively dripping

Howdy,

I have read that the packing gland on my drive shaft should only drip 1 -2 drips per minutes when idled on the dock. I noticed this weekend that mine, with the boat off, was dripping about 1/2 a cup of water per minute. I have read that i might just need to tighten the fittings? Is that accurate and is there any details on what I need to do.

It is something that, with the right tools, you can attempt yourself, or bring a tech on board with you. It is adjustable and manageable. Hope this helps.
