We're looking for a safe and secure place to park our pickup and trailer on the east side of Vancouver Island from Nanaimo to the north end of the island. Would like it to be close to a launch and safe for 2-4 weeks of time so we can have a longer time on the water. Does anyone have a place they can recommend?

Have you considered launching at Cap Sante/Anacortes? They have a nice boat lift so you don't have to deal with boat ramps and tides and parking security is very good.

Launching much north of Campbell River commits you to Johnstone Strait. If you're headed to Desolation Sound, launching further south gives you the option of transiting home on either side of the Strait of Georgia.

It may take some time to get there, but once you factor in ferry schedules and the added expense, it might make sense.

Port Hardy is a long way to the top, but the harbour authority has a great boat launch and long term parking. They generally don't let you park in the main lot long term until Sept 15th, so you have to go to the long term parking area as noted in the link below. So about a 5-10min walk after you go park the vehicle and trailer.

I have room at home outside of Parksville, about a 10 minute drive from French Creek ramp and about a 15 minute drive from Fairwinds marina where we keep our R25. We are on acreage so no problem with space.
