this may sound like a trivial complaint, but whenever I shut off the engine in my R21 there is a piercing alarm tone indicating the lack of oil pressure and lack of alternator current until I mash the power off button long enough to power down the Yanmar electrical system. Is there a quieter way to achieve engine shutdown?

If I remember correctly try this. Turn the ignition key OFF before you press the stop button.
Totally understand.....my 2013 21EC yanmar had no key....start up was
Press power button
Alarm buzzer sounds
Panel warning lights were on
Push Start button
Buzzer and lights stop
Shut down was push stop button
Buzzer would sound for what seemed like an eternity in a quiet anchorage..
...never found a peaceful way to shut it off......
