I went out and practiced anchoring yesterday and there in the hold for the chain was a pig tail flat end 4 wire (I think) without a cap. I'll need to find something to protect the ends, as they are starting to corrode. Can someone tell me what this is for, it's a 2021 R-27 OB LE

Thank you

The pigtail is for trailering lights, but to be clear, it’s for the trailering lights on the stern of the boat and not for lights on the trailer. The stern of my 2012 R27 has brake lights, left and right turn signals and reverse (backup) lights. Your later model boat may be similar.

Unless the pins on the connector are badly corroded, they should clean up with a small brass wire brush or even a toothbrush and baking soda. There are protective caps on amazon for $4 to $7. Or if you have a spare opposite gender plug, put grease in it and plug it on to the one connected to the boat to use it as a protector and lubricator.
