Sorry to put this here, but the question is about PMs that seem to be "hanging", therefore I can't send a PM to find out what is happening.

I have composed 6 PMs. Four show up in my "Sent Messages" box, two are in the "Outbox" and seem to be stuck there. Both messages show a sent time which is approximately when I composed them, but seem to have not actually been sent. Is there a problem with PMs just now (11/05/2010 and 11/06/2010) or is this normal?

The FAQ page does not seem to explain how this would happen unless all PMs are currently blocked, the target recipients have me on their enemies list, or I have been busted by the administrators. Heck, I'm too new to have very many folks annoyed with me (yet).

If I remember correctly, the PM will hang there until the individual signs on and gets it. Hope not to mislead you but that is how it was explained to me as I had this situation.

Ron is correct. If it shows in your outbox, that means the person that you sent it to has not read it. If it is showing in the sent file, it has been sent and received.

Thanks to all of you. I had searched the FAQ and several of the topic groups but must have not hit the correct search question to find the previous path.

I can see some advantages to that in that you at least know the person has not yet read the PM and isn't just ignoring you. I guess the others to whom I sent mail had been on line shortly after my queueing up the message.

Everyone has it right. The site doesn't work like a mail server, sending and receiving messages. It functions like a bulletin board. You stick a note on the board and it stays there until the recipient picks it up.

The forum members you're trying to reach may not realize they have a message waiting. Try sending them a regular email (via the address listed in their profile) to alert them. Let them know they'll find "new messages" indication in the blue Menu box on the home page (upper right), and under the banner across the top of other pages. Clicking those links takes you to the User Control Panel where you can view message counts and messages for In, Out, and Sent.

Aloha

Bruce,
Can you contact DaNag and ask him to update our FAQ with this information? Thanks.
