I’ve been an anchor marine underwritten by travelers policy holder for years on my cut 28. Anybody have success getting their policy under $1500?

We have the same broker and the same insurance company for our 2017 C-28. Stated value $180K. Plus an extra $10K coverage on the trailer. Policy renewed in November for just under $1,500.
Had same broker and insurance company on our prior R-25. Been with them nine years now. No claims.
Prior to 2014 had State Farm for eight years for our Monterey 242 Cruiser. One roadside assistance claim to swap out flat tire on trailer in 2010. I know Travelers looked into our claim history with State Farm before giving us a quote in 2015.
Have always had the boats on trailer for 5 months (11/1 to 3/31) during the winter.

We had the same insurance + broker for our former 2019 C30 and the last renewal was $2240 (!). So $1500 for a 2017 C28 sounds roughly in line.

I have read elsewhere, probably Trawler Forum, about insurance costs skyrocketing for many folks for various reasons. Some factors seem to be inflation in general, providers wanting to change their mix of vessels insured, hurricane claims on the East Coast, and lots of new boaters with less experience getting boats during the pandemic. But it seems to vary a lot by location, model, and provider.

I'd call Bob Schwab at Anchor and see what options he suggests and maybe also call Global Marine.

Paying about $1000.00 for our 2015 R31-CB LE (no trailer) in the PNW. Chubb Insurance.

I have Boat US / GEICO insurance on my 2019 C28 including trailer with unlimited towing for under $1,000.

$986.00 with Markel. 2017 R 29 CB. I do have a CG license (expired) which may influence the risk analysis.

Gypsy,
That’s a great rate you get from Geico!
Made me get a quote from them this morning. My 2017 C-28 came in at $1456 a year. That’s within $20 of what I pay for Travelers Yacht coverage which I prefer over Geico’s coverage.
Not sure how your rate is so low! Wonder if it’s really that much cheaper on the East Coast???

Interesting data. Thanks for sharing.

Portland, OR. Had my sailboats with BoatUS for over 30 years, and for 3 years now my 2011 Ranger Tug 27, with trailer paid less than $620. for 2023. Have agreed Value on Hull & Equipment of $73K, Trailer at $3.5K, Liability at $500K, fuel and Spill at $1.076M. Probably under insured, but if something happens I am comfortable with good liability coverage.

Just had my PEMCO insurance renewal. Net increase of about.... $15 year over year. Very pleased with this.

A 2019 Ranger 27-OB... In the neighborhood of $1400.

Disclaimer -- I carry _multiple_ insurance policies with them.

We have umbrella policy under Farmers which underwrites Foremost .... we are under a K for boat and trailer, but we also get a discount because we have umbrella policy. Make a phone call / cannot hurt!

We have Progressive for our 2015 Cutwater 28 and pay $1,100 per year which includes the trailer. It was $997 but went up this past year. We also have an agreed upon hull value set at $150,000 which I should probably lower a bit now and help reduce my premium.
I have multiple policies with Progressive and have been happy with their pricing and service thus far.

R29 2013 classic. We have Red Shield Insurance. $1015 with hull value at 160k. I was informed that they want a full survey next year prior to insuring. I don't know what that will cost and I have heard that it's about 300/ft. Seems very pricy to have insurance so will likely be looking at other options.

Just an update... since my policy just came up. I've included a screen shot of the costs for FY26 on my 2018 27-OB. Also, I asked about geographical limits. I've included a screenshot of that.

I have a deep relationship w/ PEMCO. Your milage may vary.

Does your coverage include unrestricted USA and Canada when towing and damage coverage for a trailer? BTW $1K coverage for marine (or on land) towing isn’t very much. Our friend with a C-28 just had a road emergency towing bill of $1,800 for towing his boat on trailer about 40 miles that started in a remote area.

Seems like we have this discussion every year. I've stayed with global Marine/Merkel and in five years at almost no increases. I moved off the other guys when they gave me a big increase after year one.

I can't speak to that - I don't own a trailer. Specifically called out in our policy.

I don't have trailer coverage in our BoatUSA either.

I've had a sizeable decrease the year before last. This year the rate was the same. (edited for clarity)

I've never had an increase.
