PNW wind storm this weekend

Just a reminder to all those in the PNW; we have a storm warning in effect; make sure you have checked your lines in preparation!

The precursor gale last night managed to cause some damage to my cutwater 28.

a little grub screw from the bimini frame failed and the bimini became a sail. (yes I should have taken it off; again something else to have learnt the hard way as a new boat owner! 😳 )

unfortunately it chafed through the outside 2nd helm control cover and the frame then smashed the volvo penta screen next to the helm. sigh

Hopefully this is a relatively :cry: easy/cheap replacement!

Oucheeeee. Sorry to read your issue. Was your boat in covered or uncovered moorage ?

Oh that stinks. Especially on a new boat. I have seen some other manufacturers who have plastic molded covers that go over secondary helms. They are clipped on and weather sealed. Maybe a good idea for Tanger Tug on future models too. Why leave all that beautiful electronics and controls exposed?

It was uncovered moorage. that little grub screw that holds the bimini frame pieces together fell out. such a tiny part caused quite a bit of damage!

we are forecast 60 knots up here in La Conner tonight.

I was lucky it wasnt worse; the 50 foot boat next to me broke 5 lines out of 7 last night!

Sorry you had damage!

I took the warning to heart and went down to check my boat. I keep it on Puget Sound, at the Elliott Bay Marina. I was primarily concerned about my brand new full cockpit enclosure. I am glad I checked! No problem with the canvas, but The port side bow line, which was the one taking the force of the gusts, had serious chafing. I couldn't pull it off (wind was literally howling), so I lashed on a new line right over the failing one. Whew!!

We squeezed in our second day of orientation with Kenny on Tug Toy just before the storm hit Edmonds. Power is out at home... Contemplating a night in the boat.... 😀

Thank goodness Spinner!

46 mph gust in shelter bay marina which is pretty protected.

Smith island had 60 knot gusts.

The other thing that went missing. The two drinks holders next to the stern flip seat got sucked out of their sockets! Strange!!
