One of my Polyform G5 fenders has lost its inflation valve. It has fallen into the fender. The screw in plug still holds some air in the fender, but I cannot inflate it enough with the valve gone. Does anyone know if there is a repair kit to install another valve? Or some other repair? Thanks Herb

Polyfoam warranty indicates you should get a free replacement... similar to Taylor's life time warranty.

Thanks Barry,

I had not thought about a possible warranty. I will call them tomorrow.

Herb: All my fenders are Taylors. If and when they fail I just walk into my local WM store and they direct me to the fender section saying "go find yourself a new one". Couldn't be simpler than that. 🙂

I wonder if WM would honor the Polyform fender warranty for you.... you do have WM in Anacortes... if that's where you are at this time. Give them a call.

They along with Cap Sante Marine are listed as Polyform Retailers. But I have never seen Polyform G5s in West Marine. I have seen them in Fisheries Supply. But Fisheries is in Seattle.

West Marine may have to order it.....it has just been sitting in my truck so a couple of days more will not matter.

Maybe my eyes are failing, but I can't seem to see any valves to inflate my swim platform fenders. Where would they be located?

I also have the G5 fenders. The description text for the G series includes the phrase "inflation valves for larger sizes".

Based on the inflation guide at https://www.polyformus.com/t-inflationGuide.aspx the G1 and G2 do not have inflation valves. I believe the swim platform fenders are G2 size.

Contacted Polyform today. Byron of Polyform told me that I could send the fender back to him and he would examine it. After he described the valve or convenience flap, I took another look at the fender. He said that the air is actually held in the fender by the screw in plug and not the valve. He said the the item that is rolling around inside is probably a piece of rubber casting left over from the manufacturing process. I used a blunt tool (allen wrench) and adjusted the convenience flap a bit. Then I aired it up using my hand pump. Very hard to get a seal and pump at the same time. Willie helped and we were able to air it up. I have an adaptor coming that will allow me to pump them up easier. The "bad" fender now seems to be holding air ok. I will see after a day or so how it does.

Not as easy as Taylor warranty, as I will have to send it back to them for examination if it still leaks. No instant replacement. No free replacement as it will cost to send it back via UPS at my expense.

Herb: I'm not sure about price comparison between Polyform and Taylor for like fenders... but assuming they are similar I personally would tell Polyform that my next fender will be a Taylor product. Polyform has to know about the Taylor life time warranty.

Are Polyform fender in general less expensive than Taylor fenders ?
