This has been a wonderful year on the Tug....many nights on the hook...secluded coves...loons and bald eagles...great meals on the grill....peace and quiet...midnight swims. But....the damn list to port is bugging me! I wake up in the middle of the night thinking I must be sinking! Next year I'm gonna put an outrigger on the starboard side with a half dozen extra house batteries in it. Just venting.

Hi Phil:

A wonderful year for us also with some good trips and good times; like the pre-dawn cup of coffee i'm having now.

I know exactly what you're saying about the port list.

We've counteracted that on Blue Merle, which came w generator and a/c, by adding weight to starboard side:
Filling under stove cabinet w bottled water, sodas, gatorade
dishes, cups, silverware and rack
Stovetop cutting board
Craftsman toolbox and tools
Spare anchor, chain, rode
Rooftop cargo box
As much other boat stuff will fit into cargo box

Now it's almost level, but still have to use a dab of starboard bow down trim while underway.

In addition to what Bill has done we mounted our dinghy so the outboard engine sits on the starboard side, obviously this only helps the listing while the dinghy is mounted on the swim platform.

Forgive my ignorance, but WHAT is the cause of the imbalance resulting in the PORT list?

Thanks,

Mostly from generator and AC installed on port side along with batteries. We kept our tools on the starboard side to help offset, and Willie kept her clothes on the starboard side (which more than offset the list).

I have thought of installing two additional house batteries in the starboard side compartment that houses the inverter/ charger....good ballast and some extra amp hours. To do so would require that I relocate a small gray water tank that is in that location presently, or connect my gray water lines to the black water tank. As others have done, I store any heavy items that will fit, in the starboard side storage areas. It's tough to overcome the weight of the generator, AC and batteries on the port side. I suppose I could regain the 15 lbs. that I lost last spring as well....

Well, then Willie must have had an outfit for every occasion PLUS one to loan at the get togethers! 😉

Kinda like the guy with a tool for ANY repair and SEVERAL spares to hand out in case someone else is in need.

Seriously Herb, thanks for the explanation.

Is that only a 25 problem, because if haven't noticed it on my 31

It's a 27 problem, don't know about the 25s.
