Ourovely R23 has a webastoheater, but no a/c.Has anyone added a portable unit with a vent through one of the sliding windows and use with shore power, solar or generator. Have purchased Costway through Amazon.Have not yet tried. Had an evap cooler, but not very effective due to Northeast humidity. Any thoughts or suggestions. Thanks!

Some folks have put the portable AC unit in the door way, others have put them on the roof and vented down a skylight.

Thank you but not sure I understand. How do you put unit on roof and vent down? A/c units I've seen have air intake hoses for venting out a window or door, not venting inward? Sorry for my confusion. Can you explain a bit more. Have a good day. Thanks!

It was done by another owner here on TugNuts, I am hoping he sees your post and answers your questions. Basically he put the standard window AC unit on the roof and made up some duct work that put the air into the cabin via one of the skylights. He had some pictures on his website that showed how he did it. I didn't save a link to his page so I can't help there.
EDIT: I found the link to his web page.

I have wondered why an RV roof top model would not work. It could be mounted over a roof vent. Looks much better than a portable residential unit. Not sure about power issues. I have seen them range from 5,000 to 16,000 btu. Is there a reason they are not suited for this purpose?

this is fantastic information..thank you very much!!!!!

I did considerable measuring on my R-27 to see about an RV rooftop unit. I could not manage to make one fit. I have the standard water cooled A/C, but wanted to see what I could do as an alternative if mine broke down. I have resolved to fixing it rather than jury rig something. The A/C in the hatch is a good temporary job, but I am not sure I would want the "look" as a permanent solution. Nice for traveling on land as well.
I also know that John & Laurie Gray use one of those self contained units that vent out the window with hoses. They keep their's in the cave and made a panel that fits into the slider side of the window for venting. Never saw it, but John says it works well in the winter heat of Florida.

I will look at this one. I had the same issue when I researched last year. Always a couple inches short of rooftop space to be able to mount over existing current sky light vents. There are several slim units by Domentic and others but that makes them longer which is an issue with our roof design. Will keep looking.
