Does anyone know if a Honda eu2200 portable generator will run the ac on an R23, and if this is the best choice for power when anchoring, or are there better options? Thanks in advance for your help.

If you get the 2200 companion model, the 30A shore power cord will fit right in. Yes, the AC will run if it has a soft start feature.

Thanks everyone. Does anyone have best practice for carrying and storing the gas for the generator?

I just purchased a Genmax 3300i for about $600. Tested it on the a/c on my R27. Works great. I do not have soft start. I tried using the electric grill at the same time but that was too much. Not a problem though. Will just alternate as needed. Only issue I need to resolve is I now have a reverse polarity indicator on. I assume that is because I need to run a ground from the generator. Still researching.
I have the factory generator but there is always an issue with it and it is loud.
I go marina to marina so I dont have those safety issues. Just need a/c while traveling in FL.
I am sure Honda is higher quality but I can buy another one if this one dies and still be ahead of the game. The 3300 peak and 3000 running was pretty impressive.
Several youtube videos testing out several different models.

Wow, that’s a big price difference. The reverse polarity issue does concern me. I know very little about electricity so i always err on the super cautious and safe side. Is the polarity issue a safety issue? Thanks

I don’t see the reverse polarity issue with my Honda.

I am in no way an expert in marine electronics. My reading so far indicates it is not a safety issue. It is a common issue with portable generators. May get the same indicator light with a honda. There is a ground terminal on the generator. Looking into seeing if that needs to be connected to boat ground. But I am smart enough to know what I do not know. I will keep researching. I have only tested it once so I need to work with it more.

I have an after market 8,000 btu Dometic ac on my R23. I purchased a harbor freight 1400 watt generator. AC works fine. Thank you Lordy! Doesn’t like the electric stove though. Everything else hums.
Bought a ground/neutral bonding plug from Amazon to solve the ground issue. Perfect!
