A small group of us are planning a fast boat cruise to Alaska in 2019. In order to facilitate planning for this cruise I reached out to Sam Landsman, who many of you may already know. Sam has led several inside passage trips for Waggoner and has written an excellent blog about the experience and maintains a website with some excellent resources at Slowboat.com.

Sam has offered, if there is enough interest, to do a deeper dive into the planning and execution of an inside passage cruise if there were enough interest.

Are there folks here that would attend a seminar that goes beyond the "Points North" content in order to help prepare for an inside passage trip. I would certainly attend and can't imagine a better resource for putting a trip of this type together.

Let's express enough interest here such that Sam feels comfortable putting the seminar together and maybe Ranger/Cutwater might even help sponsor it!'

I’m interested
I’ll be very interested if we’re scheduled for about this time next year
Feb or even better, March 2019

Yes I would be interested. Will watch for updates.

We already signed up for the Points North seminar but would be interested in the Points Farther North seminar as well.

Btw, Sam is a great guy, a good friend of ours. He is extremely knowledgeable and has vast experience in all the areas up north, quite an impressive young man!

I would be very interested in attending a ‘Points Farther North” seminar sometime during the 2018-19 off season. I would appreciate as much advance notice as possible of dates. Thank you.

We (John and Suzanne) would love to get in on this. I just returned from the Seattle Boat Show, heard Sam speak in some of the classes, and he is great! Very practical info. Also heard him at the last “Points North” seminar. We are hoping to go the Broughtons this summer and Alaska the following if all goes well. (BTW, if there are enough people to warrant it, I think that place in Lake City where the points north seminar was held - The Elliott Bay Public House and Brewery - is a great venue.)

We are interested in the seminar and in joining the 2019 Inside Passage trip - Bill & Lynn Johnston

If a minimum number of attendees is needed for Sam's program you might want to make mention of it on the C-Brats website. A number of C-dory owners have cruised north into Alaska and there is always talk from interested cruisers. I believe Sam has done parts of Alaska in his own C22. Anyway, just a suggestion as I suspect you might find several C-Brats who would be interested.

I'm interested.

Moi aussi!

That's French for "Heck, yeah! Put my name in the hat!" 🙂

I would be interested!

We would be interested also, if given closer to departure date.

We would definitely be interested. Our R23 arrives in 3 days. After a year of cruising the local waters an Alaska cruise in 2019 would be perfect! The more pre-trip info and prep the better.

Hi Anna,

Congrats on your new boat! It is an awesome choice for many reasons. You'll love both the boat and this community, there is so much to learn.

If you are interested in learning opportunities Waggoner is having a 3 day Cruising the Inside Passage class next weekend in Anacortes. I don't know if it is full yet or not but you could check and see.

We keep our boat in Friday Harbor so if you get down to the San Juans let me know and we can get together, although with your cruising grounds I can see you staying put 🙂 We will be part of the RT cruise to Desolation this summer and would love to have a place to stop and meet other 23'rs.

If you find you have questions about the boat or just want to chat you can reach me at jim at Jimwahomes dot com. I'll always talk about our boat ;-)

Here's to having your new boat in time for the summer cruising season !

I would be interested in the seminar. We went to Alaska a few years ago in our 'sailboat-days', and it was a fantastic trip.

So just as a follow up to this. It has not died to lack of interest but is either a winter or spring thing. Sam Landsman is soon on his way leading his flotilla to Alaska and then another to Desolation Sound.

Look for this to be announced sometime later this year.
