I've noticed that in the cabinet space below the padded seat in the R25's cockpit that there's an opening in the lower rear starboard area. It's certainly large enough of an opening for items to drift into from boat rocking and subsequently become lost from sight.

What have others done to avoid items falling/drifting into this hidden area ? Thanks.... 🙂

I never noticed this particular area for lost items.
However, I have a couple of plastic bins from Wal-Mart in the locker to which you referr.
Anything that might be small enough to get "lost" would be in a plastic bin.

The shelf over "The Cave" is another matter.
When you raise the shelf, anything small slides off into the gap between the shelf and the cabin wall, never to be seen again. It is nearly impossible to fish anything out of this gap. I cut a piece of 11/2 plastic pipe to cover up the gap.

Yep -- using bins is a sure way to avoid lost items -- great idea. Thanks. 🙂

Thanks also for the tip wrt the pop up cave chart shelf. 🙂

We have had things disapear and never found. we thought some boat gremlen was eating them. Turns out the chart table over the cave was the culprate. We fished some of those items out with bent coat hangers. How Does the plastic pipe work? Is that pvc?

I cut a piece of 1.5 inch (I think) pvc the right length.
I sanded all the writing off and put a cap on each end, because I am anal.
I laid the piece of pvc over the gap.
It just sits there inconspicuously and is hardly noticeable.
When you raise the lid over the cave, the pvc pipe does not iterfere with raising the lid, but it does keep stuff from sliding into the black hole.

Captd: FYI -- The right length on my MY2010 R25 is 31".

Thanks, I'll do it
