Hello Everyone! Just curious how many tugnuts we have on the Potomac. The wife and I are pre-planning for a weekend getaway at the beginning of boating season (March/April) in our area. We have already spent weekends at Coles Point Marina a couple of times and at Colonial Beach Yacht Center. We are looking to schedule something not too far off from the mouth of the Potomac River along the Chesapeake Bay somewhere, maybe like Somer Cove Marina or Ingram Bay Marina. Open to advice from others who may be in this area. Hope everyone is staying safe and wishing for a better boating season this year. Cheers! -Norm

Smith Point Marina is a great marina (our home base), but not walking distance to anything--you could check with Dan to see if you could rent a car. There is a dock with power in Reedville that would be more convenient--Reedville Market is an easy walk.

Appreciate the feedback, I'll take a look at both. Cheers! -Norm

Yes the Potomac is our boating territory too. Not familiar with the marinas you mentioned.

Our favorite by far is Coles Point Marina. Tim's At Coles Point restaurant is on the marina. They make the best crab cakes I've ever had. Our boat is in storage for the winter, can't wait until boating season opens back up. We will likely make a weekend trip back to Coles Point, but want to start planning going a little further. Which marina are you at? We are at Tyme N Tyde. Cheers! -Norm

Columbia Island Marina in DC.

Tried to get in touch with the folks at Tyme and Tyde for Winter storage options but never reached anyone there.Do you know if they do winter storage? Thanks

I would think they would do winter storage, they definitely have the space. We keep our boat inside the boatel, so it's protected from the elements. We've been there for about 6 years now and every winter see some boats on trailers on the hard. The manager just retired at the end of last season, not sure who took his place. The office is generally closed during the holiday season for a few weeks. If they don't answer the phone, then they are probably still out. Maybe try sending an email on their contacts page? They typically don't open the season until middle of March. Cheers. -Norm

We are on Potomac at the Occoquan. We rented a slip at Belmont Bay Harbor this fall. Probably will rent there again for the summer months. Cruising up to DC and down to the Chesapeake make for great overnights or 3 day trips. I own a 30 foot slip at Fairfax Yacht Club. But our new R27 is too long to fit. If any of you guys with a 23 wants to rent it, or better yet buy it let me know.
