Andrew,
What is the easiest way to shut power off to the Wallas. It was run out of fuel. After second attempt all lights flash and the power must be shut down to start over again. It can not be reset by shuting down at the stove. I guess it needs to be shut off at the batteries. The Wallas doesnot get its power through one of the 12 volt breakers. It doesnot cut the power with the main house batteries. Where do you tap for power, and where is the fuse? I have looked for two days. (Just partial days) 😉 Also, what type of fuel was in there? No smell, not diesel.??? Lamp oil???

Another question: Do you guys leave the stainer cover down in the bilge with towels for any particular reason? Is there a reason for two towels laying on each side of the bilge pump? They are stuffed in neatly like they were meant to be.

Hope there is enough anti freeze in all points. It has been down to 27 below zero.

It won't be long and we will be heading south............where it is warm.

Look at page 15 in the owners manual listed on the left hand side of the home page. Coming directly off battery #2 is a 15 amp fuse that feeds the Wallas directly, not switched. That should do it.

Charlie,
My book shows Wallas on page 19. with no info on electrical. I went through the book, I am probably blind in one eye and can't see out of the other one. I'll check that out in the morning. I thought all those fuses would be labeled, but they are not. Thanks

No, not in YOUR owners manual, go to the home page, look at the .pdf file there for the R25 owners manual and go to page 15 there. It shows the batteries with the wallas coming off battery #2 with a 15 amp fuse. If you go to the boat, turn on the wallas and take out a fuse or two that is DIRECTLY connected to the batteries (the bilge pumps may be too), the Wallas should turn off. It should be in a sealed fitting (probably a blade fuse) on a lead about a foot from one of the positive terminals.

Try that....

I was able to unplug mine at the stove itself. It made it very simple. You might check the Scan Marine Site. I think that is where I learned the trick.

That all makes sense. Thanks guys. Today I will get it working. Only about 10 below this morning , so it is getting balmy. I will check page 15 right now.

Darrel,

You can unplug right at the stove. The red and black wires coming out of the white plug in the back of the stove are it. Unplug that to reset it. The fuse is labeled in the battery compartment and shown in the owners manual. The towels next to the bilge? How could you forget? I told you why I put them there before you left for home. Let me just say cummins had to come fix something on our seatrial and thats why they were there. 😀

Oh ya Andrew, I remember that now. In other words I can pull them out. The strainer can be put back together again too, Huh? Not complaining, just wondering . At my age I do a lot of that.

Dogone it! Now I gotta get a Ranger so I can go look at these problems first hand!! 😱

Charlie

Ya Charlie, do it. 😱 The more the merrier. I got to admit.....I have suffered no buyers remorse since buying the c-dory or both Rangers. Just a matter of trading equities. It was not the happiest days of my life when these boats were sold. Can't wait to get on the water and live the next 5 months on the Lucky Fin. I expect it to cost less than renting a condo or cabin some where down south. Just buying diesel is the only real extra cost of living. Hull speed is the secret.

Thanks Andrew, the white plug info is what I needed. Took a couple of resets and away it went. I have mounted the 4 horse Honda in such a spot it is hard to get into the battery compartment without taking the motor down. I did that but couldn't find the label on the wire telling me Wallas. Besides it is so cold out side my brain had slowed way down. For me that is darn near dead stop. If i could build the garage over again, I would put in a 14 ft. door. At least I can keep the snow out.

I have no idea why the strainer cap was off. Like you say I start to forget things the older I get! 😀

A good and important point here: If your fuses in the battery compartment are not labeled, do them with a permanent marker (like silver-it shows up well on the black fuse cases) when you are calm and not under stress. Also, go even farther and label the buss bars and the battery cables (house, engine, thrusters) because I have needed that information when I could not find the right written information.
