I have a new (2021) Cutwater 24 Coupe in Beaufort, SC, but I plan to spend the summer in Colorado and leave my Cutwater in Beaufort on her trailer. Typical summer weather is temps in the 90s, high humidity, and frequent afternoon T'Storms. no nearby electricity. I fear mold will develop inside.

I must leave the boat closed and locked. The stern, to the back door, is under a canopy. I have removed items that tend to absorb moisture. I have wiped interior surfaces with mildew/mold remover/preventer. I'm leaving 3 pans of cat litter is a desiccant. But, I sense I must do something to keep air moving.

I want to install a solar exhaust fan somewhere on the roof. Ideally, it looks like it might work at the aft end of the salon, above the door opening. by leaving the forward portholes bu the V-Berths slightly open, a draft could be established running fresh air from the v-Berth are to the ft part of the salon and out the roof.

Has anyone tried something like this? Is mounting there feasible? What else can be done for mold avoidance in summer storage?

Thanks.

I think your idea of a solar exhaust fan is a good one. Also leave all cabinet doors, refrigerator door and head compartment door open.

We have had good luck with Starbrite NosGuard packets also. They release chlorine dioxide gas which attacks odors and mildew over extended periods or can be activated for stronger immediate irradiction. Also use it in vehicles for pet and smoke odors.

A couple of solar panels on top to keep the batteries charged and then a couple of USB fans running inside the boat will go a long way towards keeping the air moving, the batteries charged and mould from forming.

Kanberra gel is absolutely amazing for this.
