I'm in the process of changing out the primary fuel filter on the 6BY260 on my 2013 Ranger29 and noticed that the gasket on the filter being changed out follows a groove around the outside edge of the top of the filter; whereas, the gasket on the replacement follows a groove inside of that. There is also included with the replacement, 1 inch inside diameter gasket, same thickness as above, that appears redundant. I don't suppose the differences in the location of the gasket on top is important but not finding a place to install the 1 inch gasket is somewhat worrisome. Thanks

Doug:

Just a guess but in my experience some of the filter manufacturers include more then one gasket in there filter package based on differing applications. Maybe others will chime in.

Thanks Jim: Yes, I have found that when ordering a main component that has more than one use, the package sometimes contains parts to accommodate different applications and we are left to sort it out. In this case there is 1 inch ring that could be useful but I suspect not.-Doug

Could that 1" gasket go on the threaded portion of the filter assembly?? Take a mirror and look up underneath the filter head and see if one is there.

Is this the main fuel filter attached to the engine or the fuel/water seperator? If it's the fuel/water separator then there was a change in filter styles. But they both work fine
