I have been unable to get power to my outlets when I am under way in my R-29S. When I'm on shorepower, I can use them without a problem. But not when I am under way.

I have narrowed the problem down to an inverter setting: In0. That setting appears in the status of the remote display. Here is what the owner's manual says about the In0 setting: "Inverter is disabled, unit will not provide backup function when utility power is not available."

There are also In1 and In2 settings, both of which say the inverter is in a standy mode with power save mode OFF (for In1) and ON (for In2). I have, without success, repeatedly followed the directions in the manual designed to change the In settings.

So, I am at a standfill. I follow directions to change the "In" settings, and they don't work. Can anybody pleae offer up some suggested remedy? I would like to use the inverter to keep outlets operating when I am on the hook.

Thanks,

John

That would cause the problem. In my experience, the key thing about the manual's instructions is to follow them exactly, all the way down to the timing that it specifies.

In particular to hold down the "select" button for 5 seconds after making a selection, and then looking at the display again to confirm that it was set. Several times I have *thought* something was set but forgot to do that step to save it. HTH!

Hey John,

Are the settings switching back on their own after setting to the correct settings? If so, sounds like the control panel needs to be replaced or possibly the inverter. I had one that did the same issue and was a faulty control panel. I would reach out to Kaise direct, (604)-320-7857 and speak to their customer support staff so they can walk you through some diagnostics to see what exactly the issue might be. Hope this helps.

Thanks,

Kevin,
Thank you SO much. Will reach out to Kaise customer support.
By the way, the setting does not change at all from the "In0" setting when I scroll through the options.

I did try the customer service number for Kisae and it is no longer in service. Its website lists the same number so I am not able to get any help from them at all.

We are planning to stay on the hook for the next several days in Puget Sound. But I don't want to do that if I can't get power to the outlets through the inverter.

Getting very frustrated...

Hey John,

I'm sorry didn't know their number had stopped working and I just checked their website but couldn't find a phone number. It appears that you need to now send a contact us form in so they can reach out to you. Sorry about that, if I had a number that worked I would give it to you.

Thanks,

At long last, I fixed the problem.

After finagling several times with the remote display, I was able to reset the Inverter setting from In0 to In1.

Things didn't work initially, but then I turned off the AC Main 1 switch AND the shorepower switch. Turned them back on again, turned off the AC Main 1 switch again and the outlets worked. As a final test, we went from Port Townsend to Poulsbo and the outlets worked as they should throughout the trip.

Now I am left wondering what prompted it to go from the default setting, In1, to the problematic In0 setting.

Fixing the problem saved me whatever I was about to spend on a new inverter, if I could even get one given the shortage of just about everything needed in today's pandemic-affected supply chain.

John
